“Begining or reinitiating counseling can be a challenging yet exciting journey. The quality of the theraputic relationship, which includes, demonstrating mutual respect, maintaining trust and sustaining a commitment to one's growth is vitald to being successful in therapy. To be a part of another human being overcoming self imposed limitations and obstacles, while improving confidence, self esteem and the quality of one's life, is a privilege and a joy to witness.”

Validation & Empowerment
“Validation can play a powerful role in the healing process. Sharing experiences and emotions while feeling "heard" and acknowledged, can create a path for painful feelings to be released and for healing to begin. Healing occurs from within an individual. And so i believe that all of the essential components already exist inside each person. These personal abilities and attributes need only be nurtured, magnified, encouraged, supported, strengthened and at times, reflected and redirected, through the process of empowerment.”
I incoporate a variety of theraputic and creative interventions, skill building, sensetivity, humor and experience, along with strength based coaching technique. (Even the best athletes in the world have coaches!) Equally important is my ability to provide guidance and support to overcome any obstacles or challenges which may arise during the counseling process.

Clinical Experience
I have over twenty-five years of experience in a variety of mental health settings, including in-patient, out-patient and day treatment programs. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults, providing individual, family and group therapy. I have extensive training and experience as a DBT(Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) individual and group therapist. This program was developed to address and treat the following issues: difficulty with maintaining relationships, fluctuating and/or severe mood swings, intense feelings of anger and/or emptiness, urges to self harm and suicidal thoughts, impulsivity and often a resulting chaotic and painful life. DBT is a multifacited treatment approach and is often quite effective where other treatment approaches have been ineffective. My experience also includes working successfully with those who struggle with eating disorders, adolescents and children who are resistent to treatment or counseling, issues related to trauma, loss and grief as well as substance abuse. I utilize a variety of techniques and excercises in counseling, including art, music, role playing, skill building, drama, experiential exercises, journaling, bibliotherapy, cinema therapy, written and behavioral assignments and play therapy. Practicing and internalizing new behaviors (which yield positive results) are essential to producing long-term, beneficial changes in one's life.
